Privacy Policy

SnowRex is a ski navigation and tracking app for resort maps, route guidance, and ski session history. This Privacy Policy explains what information SnowRex handles and how it is used.

Information You Add to SnowRex

SnowRex stores the ski records and preferences you choose to create or import, such as sessions, route choices, resort selections, imported GPX files, imported session archives, exported session archives, notes, settings, and activity summaries.

SnowRex is designed as a local-first app. Your SnowRex records are stored on your device unless you choose to export, share, back up, or otherwise move them outside the app using system features.

Location, Motion, and Altitude

SnowRex may ask for location access to show your position on resort maps, detect nearby resorts, provide ski navigation, and record ski sessions. If you record a session, SnowRex may use background location so recording can continue while your phone is locked or in your pocket.

SnowRex may ask for motion and altitude access to help detect skiing, lifts, stops, and elevation changes. These signals are used to provide app functionality and improve battery-aware tracking.

Maps, Resort Data, and Weather

SnowRex uses ski resort data, map data, and weather-related information to show resort context and navigation features. Some map, resort, or weather information may be bundled with the app, stored locally, or requested from configured services when needed.

Requests to third-party or hosted services may include technical information needed to return the requested data, such as the requested resort, map tile, or weather location. SnowRex does not use these requests for advertising or user tracking.

Files, Imports, and Exports

SnowRex may ask for access to files so you can import GPX files or supported session archives, or export your own SnowRex session archives. SnowRex uses file access only for the action you request.

Imported and exported files may contain location history and activity details. You control which files you add to SnowRex and where exported files are saved or shared.

Purchases and Subscriptions

SnowRex offers an optional SnowRex Premium yearly subscription through Apple. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment details are handled by Apple. SnowRex receives subscription status information from Apple so the app can unlock Premium features.

SnowRex does not receive your full payment card number or Apple ID password.

Data Sharing

SnowRex does not sell your personal information.

SnowRex does not operate an advertising profile or sell activity records to advertisers. Data may leave the app only when you choose to export or share it, when the app requests map, resort, or weather data needed for functionality, or when required by law.

Analytics and Diagnostics

SnowRex does not currently operate a custom analytics service. Apple may provide developers with aggregated diagnostics, crash reports, App Store analytics, and related reports according to your Apple settings and Apple's policies.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your SnowRex records remain on your device until you edit or delete them, delete the app, or remove related files/backups yourself. Exported files and backups that you create are controlled by you and may remain wherever you save or share them.

Safety

SnowRex is not an emergency, avalanche, medical, safety, or professional mountain guidance service. Mountain conditions can change quickly. Always follow resort rules, posted signs, ski patrol instructions, and your own judgment.

Children

SnowRex is not directed to children under 13. Do not use SnowRex to submit information about children unless you have the right to do so.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as SnowRex changes. The effective date above will be updated when the policy changes.
